Perch fishing in Europe

Big perch are one of Europe's most addictive light-tackle targets. They school hard, hit hard and reward anglers who know exactly where structure and baitfish meet.

Techniques and gear

Softbaits on light jig heads, small crankbaits and drop-shot rigs cover most situations. A 6–8 ft light spinning rod and thin braid give the best feel around structure.

Guides with a boat and sonar find the schools faster than shore anglers ever will, especially on big lake systems where perch roam with the baitfish.
