Zander fishing in Europe

Zander are the night hunters of European lakes and slow rivers. They demand the right depth, the right light and a guide who knows which edge switches on after sunset.

Techniques and gear

Softbaits, vertical jigging and slow trolling along depth changes are the European standards. Thin braid, a sensitive rod and a fluorocarbon leader help detect light bites.

A guide with boat and electronics shortens the learning curve on big water. Zander move with baitfish, and being on the right contour at the right light is everything.
