The fishing
Skåne's coast alternates between rocky points, boulder fields, eelgrass meadows and sandy bays — textbook sea trout habitat. The fish patrol the shallows hunting shrimp, sculpins and sandeels, often in less than a metre of water. This is active, mobile fishing: read the coast, cover water, move until you find them.
Classic areas include the Bjäre and Kullen peninsulas in the northwest, the south coast from Trelleborg to Ystad, and the quieter east coast up towards Åhus. Each fishes differently depending on wind direction and season — which is exactly why locals dominate here.

Practical information
- Getting there: Copenhagen airport is 30–60 minutes from most of the coast via the Öresund bridge; Malmö is in the middle of it all.
- Licences: Coastal fishing in the sea is free in Sweden — no licence needed. Minimum size and protected coloured fish rules apply.
- Gear: 9–10 ft spin or fly rod, waders, polarised glasses. Coastal lures 10–25 g or shrimp/baitfish flies.
