Where to catch sea trout

• Skåne coast, Sweden. Rocky points, eelgrass flats and sandy bays along Sweden's south coast. Classic spots around Kullen, the south shore and the east coast fish from autumn through spring. Big fish arrive close to shore when the water cools.
• Öresund, Sweden/Denmark. The strait between Malmö and Copenhagen holds sea trout year-round thanks to constant current and baitfish. Easily reached, you can fish world-class water 30 minutes from two capitals' airports.
• Bornholm, Denmark. The Baltic island with the highest density of shore spots. March and April are legendary here, when big post-spawn fish feed hard along the rocky coast.
• Fyn, Denmark. The original "sea trout island" with over 1,000 km of coastline and a decades-old management programme. Reliable fishing and superb infrastructure for travelling anglers.

Techniques and gear

Spin fishing with 10–25 g coastal lures and fly fishing with shrimp and baitfish patterns are the two standard approaches. A 9–10 ft rod, waders and polarised glasses are essential. The skill is reading the coast: wind direction, current edges, leopard-spot bottom and depth changes decide everything.

Guides typically fish 2–3 spots in a session, moving until they find feeding fish. Local knowledge of which stretch works in which wind is the single biggest advantage you can buy.
